Benson Idahosa University, Benin City is a faith-based private University licensed by the Federal Government in February 2002. The vision of the University flows from the divine mandate of raising academics, professionals and entrepreneurs committed in changing Nigeria for the better, by LEADING THE CHANGE.

The Governing Council, in accordance with the relevant sections of the University’s statutes, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions below:

Job Title: Laboratory Technologist I / II

Location: Benin City, Edo

Requirements

  • Candidate must possess a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering with minimum of Upper Credit.
  • Candidate must have experience in modern Mechanical Engineering Laboratory and basic workshop equipment.
  • Or Geotechnical or Surveying Laboratory for Civil Engineering
  • The applicant must have good knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint presentation.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who present excellent communication skills.
  • Related professional certificate is an added advantage.

 

Job Title: Lecturer I / II

Location: Benin City, Edo

Requirements

  • A Doctorate (PhD) or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Applicants for lecturer I with M.Eng. / M.Tech. must have spent at least 3 years as a Lecturer II in a recognized University.
  • Candidates with published articles in journals will have an advantage.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, knowledge and application of relevant software is required
  • COREN registration is an advantage.
  • The candidate must be able to teach courses as well as supervise students’ projects at undergraduate level in the following areas:
    • Civil Engineering
      • Survey and photogrammetry; Geotechnical Engineering: Hydraulic and hydrology
      • Engineering: Highway and Transportation
      • Engineering: Design of hydraulic structures and Coastal Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
      • Thermal power, Applied energy and automobile Engineering.

 

Job Title: Senior Lecturer

Location: Benin City, Edo

Requirements

  • A Doctorate (PhD) in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in teaching, research, and/or professional experience in a University or comparable institution of higher learning or Industry
  • Ability to initiate and develop a research project
  • Significant publications in accredited journals
  • Experience in directing academic group discussions Experience in interdisciplinary group activities is essential.
  • Registration with COREN is a must

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English is essential
  • Knowledge of programming languages, knowledge and application of relevant software is required
  • Excellent organizational, planning, presentation, communication, coaching and administrative skills Adaptability

Job Title: Public Relations Officer (PRO)

Location: Benin City, Edo

Responsibilities

  • Developing PR strategies and campaigns.
  • Preparing press releases, keynote speeches and promotional materials.
  • Building positive relationships with stakeholders, media, and the public.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing) and maintain open communication with senior management.
  • Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts, etc.)
  • Prepare and distribute press releases.
  • Organize PR events (eg, open days, press conferences) and serve as the institution’s spokesperson.
  • Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising.
  • Address inquiries from the media and other parties. Track media coverage and follow industry trends. Prepare and submit PR reports.
  • Manage PR issues including crises.

Requirements and Skills

  • B.Sc / LBA in Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
  • Membership of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience as a Public Relations Officer or similar PR role.
  • Experience in managing media relations (online, broadcast and print)
  • Background in researching, writing, and editing publications.
  • Proficient in MS Office and social media.
  • Must be familiar with project management software and video/photo editing is a plus.
  • Strong communication ability (oral and written).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Creativity and problem-solving attitude.

 

Job Title: Deputy Bursar

Location: Benin City, Edo

Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy, plus ACA (ICAN) or ACCA with twelve (12) years post- qualification experience.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel sheets, Microsoft Word and any other accounting packages.

 

Job Title: Deputy Director, Audit

Qualifications

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Description

  • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and is the Head of University Library.
  • Candidate for the post shall be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership, possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life; and be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff.
  • The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the overall Administration of the University Library and the coordination of library services in the University and its Faculties, Departments, Extensions and for providing services for the entire University community.

Qualifications
Candidates for the post shall:

  • Be professionally qualified and be a practicing Ubrarian.
  • Possess a good Honours degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division, Master’s and Doctorate in Library or Information Science or related field from a recognized University, with at least fifteen (15) years relevant post qualification experience preferably in a University or other institutions of Higher learning.
  • Have published papers in professionally recognized journals of merit professional status, as well as possess proven records of sound administrative leadership.
  • Be a registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
  • Be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer appreciations.

 

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Description

  • The Bursar is the most senior financial officer responsible for managing the Institution’s financial affairs.
  • His/her primary responsibility involves overseeing the University’s financial operations, including budgeting. accounting, financial planning, and supervising financial transactions.
  • The Bursar by virtue of his/her office is a member of the Governing Council and all statutory committees of the Council.
  • The Bursar shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Accountancy from a recognized University.
  • The candidate should also possess a Chartered Accountancy qualification (ACA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (CAN), or ACCA.
  • The candidate must have fifteen (15) years’ post qualification experience.
  • The candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel Worksheet, Microsoft Word, and any other accounting packages.
  • The candidate must be a person of courage and transparent honesty, who can take decisions on merit facts, equity, and patriotism and not on the basis of parochial interests or primordial pressures.
  • Candidates should also be free from conflicts of interest.
  • The candidate must have the highest moral standards, impeccable character, and proven integrity with irrevocable commitment to the best practices in corporate governance, with particular emphasis on accountablity, transparency, and probity. He/She must ensure the judicious utilization of scarce resources for optimum public good.

Tenure

  • The Bursar shall hold office for a fixed tenure of five years and upon such terms as shall, subject to the Law and statutes determined by the Visitor thereafter.

 

Job Title: Vice Chancellor

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Description

  • The Vice Chancellor is the most senior administrative and academic officer of the University.
  • He/She exercises general supervision and control and provides strategic direction and leadership.

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a Ph.D. from a recognized University. In addition, he must have a good knowledge of Nigeria educational policy.
  • The candidate should possess considerable administrative experience within the University system and must show demonstrable ability to attract funds to the University.
  • A valid NYSC discharge certificate.
  • The candidate must have been a Professor for not less than five (5) years with an unbroken service within the University system during the period.
  • The candidate must demonstrate academic excellence in terms of quality publications, teaching, Innovation, credible community service and proficiency In Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • The candidate must be a person of courage and transparent honesty, who can take decisions on merit of facts, equity, and patriotism and not on the basis of parochial interests or primordial pressures. Candidates should also be free from conflicts of interest.
  • The candidate must have the highest moral standards, Impeccable character, and proven integrity with Irrevocable commitment to the best practices in corporate governance, with particular emphasis on accountability, transparency, and probity.
  • He/she must ensure the judicious utilization of scarce resources for optimum public good.
  • The candidate must have a good knowledge of university traditions and operations.
  • The candidate must be able to command respect among his/her colleagues and peers and be able to motivate staff towards the achievement of the vision and mission of the University.
  • The candidate must be firm and fair in decision-making and must follow due process in making decisions.
  • The candidate must be versed in research and should be able to encourage research development through research proposals.
  • The candidate must have the ability to provide a conducive, aesthetic, and healthy environment for learning.
  • The candidate must have the ability to promote linkages with external bodies (locally and internationally).
  • The candidate must enjoy good physical and mental health and be free from any inhibiting health condition.
  • The application must include a statement of the candidate’s vision for the University in the next five years in not more than 1,000 words and not less than 600 words.
